LENDING A HAND
Volunteer of the Month

RYAN NGO

LENDING A HAND

This month the Delaware County Advocacy & Resource Organization is featuring Ryan Ngo as the Lending a Hand Volunteer of the Month.

Ryan lives in Springfield with his Mom, Dad, Brother, Grandparents and Uncle.  Ryan also lives with 5 parakeets of various colors.  When asked if they were noisy, he replied “He doesn’t notice.”

Ryan is 14 years old and currently attends ET Richardson Middle School in Springfield, where his favorite subjects are History and Science.  He plans on using his love of science as he pursues his goal of becoming a Surgeon after he attends college. It certainly appears that Ryan has some big goals in his life, but if he works as hard as he does when he devotes time to the Delaware County Advocacy & Resource Organization then it will be a piece of cake for him.

Volunteering brings pleasure to Ryan because he loves to see the joy on the faces of our members as they participate in the social/recreational events.  He mentioned that he has made a few new friends, too.  Ryan also volunteers at the local fire company and is excited to be able to demonstrate his talents and give his time to the PALS Program this summer.

Ryan first heard about the Delaware County Advocacy & Resource Organization  when his Mom stated a customer told her about the organization.  When Ryan was asked why he volunteers, he was very quick to respond, “To meet new people, learn new things and support those who are in need and less fortunate than me.”  He also feels it is important that those with intellectual and developmental disabilities are treated as equals.

Ryan also plays on his school lacrosse team.  When asked what he does in his free time, he replied “Hang out with friends.”  He proceeded to share that his volunteer commitments, school work, and school sports keep him fairly busy.

We are very happy to have Ryan as a valued member of our dedicated volunteer staff and hope to have him working with us long into the future.
